Rabbi Aharon Yehuda Leib Shteinman, known as the Grail, was one of the leading Torah sages of his generation and a foremost leader of the Lithuanian Haredi community. He was renowned for his Torah works on the Talmud and for his broad public leadership. He stood at the head of numerous educational institutions and served as a major halachic decisor and communal guide.
Life Story
Childhood
He was born in Brisk, Belarus. He was orphaned of his father in childhood and was raised by his grandfather.
Teachers
He studied in the yeshivah of Brisk and in the yeshivot of Lithuania. Among his teachers was the rabbi of Brisk, Rabbi Yosef Dov Soloveitchik.
